           Successful Application for the Quality Education Fund Launch of the Run and Jump: Rhythmic Exercise for Fun Programme

The programme runs from 1 April 2021 to 30 September 2023 and aims: (1) To promote the healthy development of bones, muscles and bodily functions, enable children to master basic movements, help them learn the basic skills of life and develop their interest in exercise. (2) To create space for creativity through music and movement, rhythmic gymnastics and dance, to inspire creativity, to encourage children to develop their sense of aesthetics and ability to express themselves through different expression experiences, and to give them a sense of fun and satisfaction.

The programme includes:

1.  Teacher training: workshops for teachers, including (1) Enhancing teachers’ professional knowledge and teaching skills in music and movement, physical fitness and dance. (2) Strengthening teachers’ professional skills in designing activities and curriculum planning.

2. To inspire whole child development

i.Physical – Physical activities through diversified and fun aerobic games to help promote children’s physical and motor skills.

ii.Music and movement and dance – Introduce stories and use newly composed melodic music for music and movement activities. Conduct group folk dance or rhythmic gymnastics to help promote children’s sensory skills and aesthetic abilities.

3.Parent education:

i.Parent workshops on physical fitness – To educate parents on the importance of play and physical fitness for the healthy development of their children and to enhance information on healthy eating. To enable children and parents to experience the fun of exercise together and build a good parent-child relationship.

ii.Parent workshops on music and movement, folk dance, rhythmic movement and rhythmic gymnastics – To let parents understand that rhythm and movement promote self-regulation and help parents master the skills of fun rhythmic movement activities. To encourage parent-child rhythmic dance and allow children and parents to show each other their rhythmic achievements.
