Established in 1989,we original named asPo Leung Kuk Ting Mau Kindergarten. In 2012, we received a HKD$1.2 million donation fromMs. Fiona Cheung Sum Yu,Director (2001-2002) of Po Leung Kuk, and renamed Po Leung Kuk Fiona Cheung Sum Yu Kindergarten.
Mission
Arranging a good learning environment, designing a variety of activities with the theme of children's life experience and interests, and implementing the activities purposefully and systematically so that children can explore and expand in a pleasant and effective learning activity. Knowledge, development skills, good character and lifestyle.
Development Focus of the Year
1. Continuing to enhance children's language abilities, different reading plans and related language activities can be designed to strengthen their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
2.Promoting Chinese culture and arts can help children recognize and appreciate Chinese art and culture, fostering a sense of belonging to their country.
Class structure
3 academic years : Nursery, Lower Kindergarten, Upper Kindergarten,
Morning Class: 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (Noon)
Afternoon Class: 1:15 pm - 4:15 pm
Whole day class: 9:00 am - 4:15 pm
(Class from Monday to Friday)
Extracurricular Activities
Besides learning knowledge from books, we offer students opportunity to build a caring society. We encourage students to participate in community activities, such as performing at community center and elderly center, thereby to develop a social atmosphere of respecting and caring for the elderly.
To instill civic awareness in students, we have been participating in various government programmes, Plastic Shopping Bag Reduction , Waste Separation, One Person, One Flower Scheme, Earth Hour, Love Teeth Campaign held by The Oral Health Education Unit, fund-raising activities .
Our school offers extracurricular activities ranging from academic, service and interest. Activities includes painting class, dancing class, taekwondo, English phonics, Mathematics Olympiads, Road Safety Patrol and Grasshopper Scouts. The activities are designed according to the students' abilities and interest in order to develop students' interest and expertise and to improve students' motivation and self-image.
Connecting with Parents
Our school places great importance on cooperating with parents. In addition to close contact with parents, we also establish parent volunteer groups and library volunteer groups, organize various activities such as parent-child reading programs, parent-child outing, parent-child sports day ,different parent-child competitions, and regular parent days,seminar for parents to promote home-school communication.Parents can learn about the students’ development so that teachers can make appropriate follow-up actions. Our school also publishes school newsletters on a regular basis to enhance parents' understanding of the school. In addition, parents can also learn about the school's daily operations and the latest news through our school website.
