School Introduction

School History

Our school was established in 1983, and was known as the Po Leung Kuk Kwong Fuk Estate Kindergarten. In 1993, we received a generous donation from the late Cantonese Opera Legend, Madame Tang Bik Wan. Subsequently, we named the school in her honour. We now operate under the name of Po Leung Kuk Tang Bik Wan Memorial Kindergarten.

School Mission

We follow Po Leung Kuk's master mission, putting equal emphasis on the 5 learning principles of ethics, intellect, physical development, social skills and aesthetics. Our goals are to teach and nurture talents, provide diverse professional teaching services and to serve society. We give students a quality learning environment where good conduct and ethics are encouraged.

Teaching Philosophy

  • To focus on a child-centered environment that is loving and caring, in which individual learning is promoted.
  • To emphasize teacher-student interaction, and help students gain hands on experience and knowledge through exploration of problems.
  • To build a suitable environment for learning and to promote individual learning to cultivate a better learning attitude.
  • To spark balanced growth and respect individualism in pre-school aged children to understand their differences, potential, and learning needs.
  • To provide learning opportunities to help students learn, grow and develop their full potential.

Curriculum Speciality

QEE Themed learning "Question-Exploration-Experience"

Our teaching activities are based on the "Question-Exploration-Experience" principle to encourage our students discover and build knowledge. Through interactions and innovative methods of questioning and answering, our teaching staff hope to develop better interaction to encourage problem solving and students discover their talents. Therefore, we promote individual learning.

Outdoor Visits

Our school offers a range of outdoor visits and activities to help build wider experience opportunities for our students. Activities included but not limited to: cultural centres, art galleries, science museums, zoological and botanical gardens, community visits, tours, and vacation trips.

Morals Education – Mushrooms of Emotion Intelligence

Morals and emotional intelligence should be taught from a young age. It is the key towards the development of an ethically mind set. Through different activities to understand emotions, we hope to help students develop honesty, integrity, respect, politeness, diligence, responsibility, righteousness, caring and other important traits.

Bi-literacy and Tri-lingualism

Our professional foreign teachers lead students through a cheerful and native language learning environment. We have created a range of phonics, communication, gaming activities and language scenarios to help our students learn: correct pronunciation, role-playing, speaking and other core language skills. Through diverse activities including: conversation, songs, speeches, games and school plays, a holistic English learning environment is created. To stimulate learning interest and initiative by increasing learning confidence of our students, we employ certified Mandarin tutors to create a studious learning environment to help students improve listening and speaking skills. We focus on our student's language development, from their mother-tongue to foreign languages. We hope to help them develop interest and a fundamental level of understanding in linguistics.

Extracurricular Activities

Beyond the intellectual growth of our students, we focus highly on the development of health and emotional intelligence. Through exploring their interest, we hope to help our youth accumulate diverse living experiences. Our school offers a range of extracurricular activities including singing class, dancing class, musical instrument classes, a flag ceremony team and youth boy scout.

Continuous Learning Analysis

To combine a new teaching concept and adaption of our "Child Individual Growth Report", our school provides a comprehensive learning process to motivate children's independence and initiative, as well as a meaningful learning outcome for all students. We aim to continuously monitor children's learning process to distinguish the progress of each student in order to pinpoint and improve individual weaknesses and to provide quality learning goals and habits.

Home and School Collaborations

The parents and teachers' association aims to provide parents with an understanding of the institution's philosophy and operations. The collaboration between parents and the school aims at enhancing the school and create an enjoyable learning environment for our children. We welcome parents to assist with school activities according to their interests and capabilities.
